USA Trains 45mm Gauge Motor Blocks

These self-contained power trucks are used by USA trains under their range of American outline diesels, and make ideal and economical running gear for either modern diesel and electric outline locomotives, or older units fitted with tramway skirts.

We are designing them into some of our own products, and are also pleased offer the four-wheeled versions to scratchbuilders and kitbashers.

The units pick up on all wheels, as well as the slider shoes, and drive on both axles. All three types are fitted with 28.5mm diameter wheels (rolling diameter over tread), but only one length is currently available as a spare :

The long truck (94.5mm wheelbase from USA Trains F3, GP7/9 and GP38-2 locomotives) is regrettably now out of stock, and we do not expect to have any for some time, since USAtrains have not announced any new runs of locomotives using it.

Unfortunately we have had to de-list the 160-0010 71.7mm short wheelbase power truck (datasheet) - these have not been available from the manufacturers for nearly three years, and our own stocks are now also totally exhausted. Any existing customers with 71.7mm units who wish to repair/refurbish them should note that we do hold spare wheelsets for this block.

Trucks weigh between 370g and 470g each even before packing, so please add £5 P&P for any quantity - all consignments are sent Royal Mail signed for / independant courier depending on weight.

For modellers fitting their own cosmetic sideframes to these units, our 3mm bore brass top hat bushes (stock number 150-0031) are a perfect match for the ends of the axles, and will protect even card or styrene sideframes from wear.
